Office of Community Engagement

  • Información en español

The Office of Community Engagement has oversight of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers, which support the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools. The program helps students meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math; offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs; and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children.

    Program Information

    Eligibility

All Geneva City School students in grades K–12 are eligible to attend Before and After School Programs at their respective schools; however, space is limited and priority is given to students who meet grant-determined criteria.

    Student Policies

    Student Attendance

Regular attendance is essential for student growth and improvement and that every effort should be made to attend the program every day it is offered. Student attendance must be recorded for every class and activity. Once a student program participant reached 30 hours of program participation they will receive a Panther Programz T-shirt to honor their commitment and accomplishment to the Before and After School Programs.

    Sign In/Out Procedure

Security will ensure that only parents or persons with written authorization from parents will be allowed to take students from the program. In emergency situations, the parent may give verbal authorization to the program staff. The verbal authorization includes confirmation of identity. If the student uses GCSD transportation, a late bus pass must be given to the student by the teacher/staff.

    Unauthorized Pick-Up Procedure

A student may be picked up by an unauthorized person if you have written permission from a parent or authorized person or if you have a phone message taken by the school office from a parent or authorized person.

Behavior and Discipline Policies and Procedures

In order to provide a productive learning environment, all student members will be expected to follow the rules and procedures of the Geneva City School Code of Conduct. If the rules are not followed, the programming staff will make a referral to administration, and the student could potentially be removed from Before and After School Programs.

    Computer Use and Internet Safety

Staff will instruct and supervise students on the acceptable use of internet resources and proper network etiquette.

    Technology Policy

Personal electronics such as electronic games, cell phones, Ipods, tablets, e-Readers, etc., should not be brought to the program. Panther Programz is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

    Health Policy

Before and After School Panther Programz will be staffed with an American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid certified staff to address health needs. Parents should follow district health policies.
