SUBJECT: PUBLIC EXPRESSION AT MEETINGS
The President of the Board has full discretion as to the recognition of speakers, the topics to be addressed, and all time limitations. Members of the public wishing to address the Board should be aware that the following time guidelines will generally pertain:
- The amount of time set aside for public participation at any regular meeting of the Board shall not exceed 30 minutes duration;
- Each speaker shall be limited to five minutes time;
- No person shall address the Board more than once until all other persons wishing to do so shall have had an opportunity to be heard; and
- No individual shall address the Board more than twice.
When delegations appear, only one person from each delegation shall be entitled to be heard; and the presentation shall not take more than five minutes. When an individual member of the community, not with a delegation, wishes to address the Board, his presentation shall not exceed three minutes. The presentation of each case, if requested by the Board, shall be reduced to writing and a copy filed with the District Clerk.
The Board of Education reserves the right to enter into executive session as specified in Policy #1730.
