Eligibility Requirements
School board candidates must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, and residents of the district continuously for one year before the election. They cannot be employed by the school district or live in the same household with a family member who is also a member of the same school board.
Nominating Petitions
Candidates must submit a nominating petition to the school district clerk. The petition must be signed by at least 100 qualified district voters.
Nominating petitions are available from the district clerk at District Office, 400 West North Street, Geneva, N.Y., and must be filed with the district clerk at least 20 days before the election.
Candidate Datasheet
In addition to filing a petition, candidates should complete a Candidate Datasheet, which will be used to notify the public of their candidacy should they file the appropriate petition and signatures with the district clerk. Candidates should also e-mail a headshot of themselves to genevacsd@genevacsd.org.
