All children who will be 5 years old on or before Dec. 1 of the preceding year are eligible for kindergarten in the fall.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions on building entry, the district has mailed registration packets and asks that kindergarten families complete them to the best of their abilities. Our registrar works year round and will be available for questions, concerns and updates. The district's goal is to simply get children registered in a timely manner so that, once school resumes and buildings open, we can screen all incoming children and place them.
If you are the parent of an incoming kindergartner and you did not receive a packet in the mail, please submit the following documents:
Additional forms will be mailed to you for completion.
All kindergarten families must also submit the following:
- Child’s Proof of age (i.e.: passport, birth certificate, certificate of baptism—please do not provide originals)
- Proof of residency (i.e.: lease or rental agreement, home deed, NYSEG bill, pay stub, affidavit of residency—for more examples, e-mail our registrar)
- New York State physical and immunizations dated within one year of first day of school
- Custody papers if applicable
Once you have these items collected, please e-mail them to our registrar or drop them in the black secure drop boxes at:
- West Street School
30 West Street, or
- District Office
400 West North Street
(under the white awning)
These boxes are checked each weekday and paperwork will be delivered to our registrar.
If for some reason all copies are not available at the time of packet completion, please provide as many documents as possible and our registrar will contact you to coordinate additional documentation.
If you have any questions while completing the paperwork, please do not hesitate to reach out via email. Your patience is greatly appreciated as we work together to navigate forward through these uncharted waters.
