Mr. Eric Vaillancourt
It is my privilege to serve as the building principal of North Street School (NSS). It is a privilege because each day I get to work with exceptional students and a phenomenal staff. My professional goal is to help each student reach their full potential as a learner and as a person. Establishing and maintaining positive relationships is an important part of achieving this goal. This is why I consider myself to be a servant leader. It is my job to serve and support our students, staff and families. In addition to being the building principal, I consider myself to be the lead learner. We are always looking to improve our practices and that means continuing to learn and try new things. Author and educator Doug Reeves explained it best in the book Elements of Grading, “Expertise is not developed based upon the mystical ability of professionals to get it right the first time. Rather, it is based upon the willingness to try techniques, get feedback that is honest, accurate, specific, and timely, and then improve performance.”
Prior to joining the NSS family, I was an assistant principal, instructional coach and classroom teacher. I lived in the Wayne-Finger Lakes region growing up and graduated from Manchester-Shortsville High School. From there I attended college at Finger Lakes Community College, The College at Brockport and SUNY Oswego. In my spare time, I love to travel, go to concerts, watch the Buffalo Bills and play my guitar. Many of these activities I do with my wonderful wife, Michele.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if there is something that I can to do help you or your child. Additionally, do not hesitate to say hello if you see me in the building, at district events or just out and around.
