Lorraine Knifley was appointed the Geneva City School District’s new director of Head Start and Early Childhood.
Knifley was the principal of the Geneva City School District’s elementary summer school and spent the last year as an administrative intern for the district. She began her teaching tenure in Geneva in 2010 and has held elementary teaching and administrative intern positions since that time.
“I look forward to working with Ms. Knifley in her new role,” said Superintendent Bo Wright. “Her years of work in Geneva have included a range of leadership experiences, and I am sure her time as an elementary school teacher will serve her well in this next step in her career.”
Knifley has a Certificate of Advanced Study in educational leadership from SUNY Oswego, a master’s in reading and literacy from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minn., a bachelor’s in public policy from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, and an associate’s in applied science in liberal arts and science from Finger Lakes Community College.
