Posted Monday, Oct. 24, 2022 —

Geneva High School students Luke Weber and Jana Fladd have been named Commended Students in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program.

A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, was presented to the students by Geneva High School Principal Greg Baker.

“This marks the twelfth straight year multiple GHS students have been named to this prestigious list,” said Mr. Baker. “It is a testament to the quality of our academic programming and our students’ commitment to their studies. We could not be prouder of Jana and Luke.”

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2023 competition for National Merit Scholarships awards, Commended Students place among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2023 competition by taking the 2021 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Qualifying Test.

Luke is the son of Elizabeth Bihn and Courtney Weber. Jana is the daughter of Li and Scott Fladd.

“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
