Former employee returns to head Facilities

Posted Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022 —

The Geneva City School District has appointed a Geneva High School alumnus to serve as director of facilities.

Michael Reifsteck, currently director of facilities in the Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District, was appointed at Geneva’s November school board meeting and will join the district on Nov. 21. He is a graduate of Geneva High School and will be a familiar face to some in the district, having worked as a maintenance mechanic and electrician for Geneva’s facilities department from 2015 to 2018.

Since working for the district, he has worked for the Geneva Housing Authority as a maintenance supervisor and held positions in fire and rescue, ambulance services, and property management, in addition to his current post at Phelps-Clifton Spring CSD. Reifsteck studied as an emergency medical technician at Finger Lakes Community College and is a Geneva City School District resident.

“We are excited to welcome Mr. Reifsteck back to our district,” said Superintendent Bo Wright. “The fact that he has worked with us in the past should ease his transition, and I’m sure he’ll prove a valuable member of the team.”

“I'm very excited to have the opportunity to continue my career in facilities management here at the Geneva City School District,” said Mr. Reifsteck. “As a lifelong resident of Geneva, it's great to be back working in my hometown. I'm looking forward to reconnecting with the staff I've worked with here in the past, along with meeting the many new faces who are now part of the Geneva School District Family.”

The district’s director of facilities post has been filled on an interim basis by Tim Emery since Bob Smith left the post this summer to join the department of student services.
