Second graders sketch MLK

Posted Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019 —

Second graders studied Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. from both a social and an artistic perspective. Students in Maria Ortozola’s and Concetta Valliere’s classes joined forces to learn about Dr. King’s fight for equal rights (part of an ongoing unit on historical figures). Students read nonfiction books and discussed the life and work of Dr. King before concluding the unit with a class wide sketch based on the photographs and videos they had seen.
