K-9 visits PK for Community Helper Day

Posted Wednesday, April 3, 2019 —

Four-legged friends are generally discouraged on school grounds, but every good rule has its exception.

Addy, an Ontario County Sherriff’s Department K-9, and Sampson, a Geneva Fire Department fire dog, were among “community helpers” welcomed to West Street School on April 2. The dogs were hosted by the district’s Head Start and Universal Pre-Kindergarten programs as part of Community Helper Day, an effort to expose the city’s youngest students to the breadth of roles and positions that help make Geneva a community. The dogs were joined by Ontario County sheriff’s deputies, Geneva firefighters, Geneva police officers, a Rheinblick chef and a Geneva librarian.
