Voting by absentee ballot only

Posted Monday, May 4, 2020 —

New York State Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced that school budget votes and elections will be by absentee ballot only. The vote will be June 9, 2020, although we are waiting for clarification regarding whether that is the deadline for voters to mail or for districts to receive absentee ballots. School boards must adopt the budget by May 21, 2020. The budget hearing, which must be before June 1, 2020, may be held virtually.

Nominations for school board candidates no longer require signatures; they must be submitted to board clerk Adrianne Miller by May 11, 2020. The Geneva City School District has one board seat up for election—school board member Mike Ellis's term ends in June 2020.
